Best for
People who have never paid for Claude and want to test Pro, especially Claude Code, on real work for a week before deciding whether it's worth a subscription.
Take it if you've never paid for Claude: seven days of Pro, with Claude Code, Cowork and Claude Design, costs nothing, and you can cancel the moment you've redeemed it without losing the week. The one real risk is the card you enter at sign-up. Unless you cancel before the last day, the pass turns into paid Pro at Anthropic's standard price (US$20 a month before tax on its US price list). Cancel in Settings, Billing on day one, use the full week, then decide. Skip it if you've had Pro or Max before, because you're not eligible.
Pros
- Seven days of the full Pro plan, including Claude Code, Cowork and Claude Design, at no cost
- Cancelling straight away still leaves you the whole week before you drop back to the free plan
- Pro gives at least five times the free plan's usage per five-hour session, plus the Opus models
- Unlocks Research and the Chrome, Microsoft 365 and Outlook connections that the free plan lacks
- No spend or deposit needed, and redeeming takes a couple of minutes
Watch-outs
- Card details are required, and Anthropic may place a temporary authorisation hold
- Turns into a paid Pro subscription unless you cancel before the last day
- Only for people who have never had a paid Claude plan
- Passes are limited and can expire, so the link can stop working without notice
- Pro still has five-hour and weekly usage limits, and extra usage is billed separately
- Chats can be used to train Anthropic's models unless you switch that off

What a Claude guest pass is
Claude is the AI assistant made by Anthropic, a US public benefit corporation. Anthropic lets eligible Pro and Max subscribers share a small number of guest passes, and each one gives a newcomer seven days of free access to the Pro plan, including Claude Code, Cowork and Claude Design. A pass is a link, not a code: opening it starts the sign-up on claude.ai.
Each sender has a limited number of passes, claimed first come, first served, and Anthropic can let them expire or withdraw them. Passes have no cash value and can't be transferred.
Disclosure: the link on this page is BonusRoam's own guest pass. Anthropic sometimes gives the sender usage credits once a guest becomes a paying subscriber; we receive nothing for your free week.
What Pro adds over the free plan
The free plan gives you Claude's Sonnet and Haiku models with a baseline amount of usage, web search, memory and up to five projects. Pro adds the Opus models, at least five times the free plan's usage in each five-hour session, Claude Code in the terminal and desktop app, Research, and connections to Chrome, Microsoft 365 and Outlook. Anthropic's pricing page also lists Cowork as rolling out to Pro.
Anthropic lists Pro at US$20 a month, or US$17 a month when billed yearly (US$200 up front), before tax. It charges in your local currency where it can, so the price you'd pay in pounds is the one claude.ai/upgrade shows you. Max starts at US$100 a month for five times Pro's usage; the guest pass doesn't cover it.
Who can redeem a pass
You must be new to Claude's paid subscriptions. A free Claude account is fine, but anyone who has ever had Pro or Max, even briefly, can't redeem a pass. You also need to be 18 or over, live somewhere Pro is sold (the UK is), and add a valid payment method.
It's one redemption per person and per account. Anthropic can refuse or revoke the offer for fraud or abuse, including opening extra accounts to redeem more than once, and the offer can't be combined with other promotions unless Anthropic says so at sign-up.
How to claim it
Open the guest pass link on this page, then sign in or create a Claude account. Accept the Pro trial the pass offers and add a debit or credit card. Nothing is charged during the seven days, but Anthropic's offer terms say it may place a temporary authorisation hold on the card to check it.
The trial starts as soon as you redeem the pass, so redeem it when you have a week of real work to try it on. Then go to Settings, Billing and cancel straight away: Anthropic's terms say you keep Pro until the seven days end and then drop back to the free plan.
Cancelling, and what happens on day eight
If you haven't cancelled before the last day of the seven, the account converts to paid Pro and your card is charged Anthropic's standard Pro price, then again every month until you cancel. Cancel in Settings, Billing on the web; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
Don't plan around a refund. Anthropic's pricing page says UK and EEA customers can request one in the app within their 14-day withdrawal period, but its offer terms say that starting a free trial counts as consenting to immediate service, and that charges are otherwise non-refundable. The safe move is to cancel on the day you redeem.
What the week is worth
In money, not much: at Anthropic's US list price of US$20 a month, seven days of Pro works out at about US$4.60 before tax. The real value is a proper test. If you'd otherwise pay for a month just to see whether Claude Code or the Opus models suit your work, the pass saves that month's fee and the risk of forgetting to cancel a paid subscription.
To get the most from it, line up real tasks before you redeem: a repository to try Claude Code on, a long document to analyse, a research question. Work in several sessions across the week, since usage resets every five hours, and watch where you hit limits. If the free plan would have covered what you did, you don't need Pro.
Usage limits and other catches
Pro isn't unlimited. Usage resets on a rolling five-hour window and there's also a weekly limit, and everything you do in the web app, desktop app, mobile app and Claude Code comes out of one shared allowance. Long chats, big files and the Opus models use it up faster.
When you hit a limit, Pro lets you switch on extra usage at standard API rates. That isn't part of the free trial: Anthropic's offer terms say extra usage is billed separately, so leave it switched off during the week unless you mean to pay.
If you subscribe through the Apple App Store or Google Play instead of the website, you cancel through the store and its billing and refund rules apply. Redeem the pass on the web to keep cancellation in Claude's own settings.
Privacy and your data
Anthropic's consumer terms let it use your chats to train its models unless you opt out in your privacy settings. Even if you opt out, conversations you rate with a thumbs up or down, and content flagged for a safety review, can still be used. Check the setting before you paste anything sensitive, such as work code or personal documents.
Consumer accounts are for over-18s. Claude for Work plans (Team and Enterprise) run under separate commercial terms, so check with your employer before using a personal trial for company material.
What users complain about
On 24 October 2026 the Claude app was rated 4.7 from 33,107 ratings on the App Store and 4.6 from 820,738 ratings on Google Play.
The low-rated App Store reviews from the last two months keep returning to the same points: usage limits that run out sooner than expected, with hours of waiting even on paid plans; answers that feel less careful than before, or refusals and opinions nobody asked for; app glitches since the Cowork merge, such as notification sounds that can't be turned off and broken copy and edit; support that is mostly automated email; and sign-in by email code only.
Who should take it, and who should skip it
Take it if you've never paid for Claude and have something real to test it on, especially coding work for Claude Code or long documents for the Opus models. Redeem, cancel in Settings, Billing the same day, and use the full week.
Skip it if you've had Pro or Max before (the pass won't apply), if you won't hand over card details, or if the free plan already covers what you do. If you know you'll forget to cancel, either cancel immediately after redeeming or don't redeem at all.
FAQ
- What does the Claude guest pass give me?
- Seven days of free access to Claude's Pro plan, including Claude Code, Cowork and Claude Design. You get Pro's higher usage limits and the Opus models for the week.
- Do I need to enter a card?
- Yes. Anthropic requires payment details to redeem the pass. Nothing is charged during the seven days, though Anthropic may place a temporary authorisation hold to check the card.
- Can I cancel straight away and still keep the week?
- Yes. Cancel in Settings, Billing and Anthropic's terms say you keep Pro until the seven days end, then return to the free plan.
- What happens if I forget to cancel?
- The account converts to paid Pro and your card is charged Anthropic's standard Pro price, then monthly until you cancel. Don't count on a refund for that first charge.
- I had Claude Pro last year. Can I use a pass?
- No. Passes are only for people new to Claude's paid subscriptions, and any past Pro or Max subscription rules you out.
- Why won't the guest pass link work?
- Each sender has a limited number of passes, redeemed first come, first served, and passes can expire or be withdrawn. If the link won't redeem, the passes behind it have run out.
- Is the trial unlimited?
- No. Pro has a usage limit that resets every five hours and a weekly limit, shared across the apps and Claude Code. Extra usage beyond that is billed separately and isn't covered by the trial.
