FastAIToken Review: Is a Third-Party OpenAI-Compatible AI Gateway Worth Using from the UK?

FastAIToken reviewed for UK developers: what the one-key AI API gateway covers, how its trial credit, pricing groups, 30-day refunds and 365-day balance expiry work, what it logs, and who should skip it.

Best for

UK developers who want to try GPT, Claude, Gemini and Chinese models behind one OpenAI-style key on small, non-sensitive projects, and can pay with Alipay or WeChat Pay.

FastAIToken is a usable test bench, not a production supplier. One key reaches 40-plus models, the free trial credit and a 30-day refund on unused paid balance make it cheap to try, and the UK sits inside its region rules. Against that, it is an unofficial reseller with no published company address, its cheap Claude and OpenAI capacity comes from subscription-style pools that a model maker can shut off, promotional bonuses come out of any refund in full, and the balance expires a year after your last top-up. Take the trial, top up small, cap every key, and keep client data and production traffic on the model makers' own APIs.

Pros

  • One OpenAI-compatible key and endpoint for GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Qwen, GLM and more
  • Free trial credit for new users, so you can test before paying anything
  • Unused paid balance is refundable within 30 days, with no fee on Alipay or WeChat Pay
  • Per-project keys, spend caps and a per-call billing log in the console
  • Charges from 5xx errors, timeouts and double billing are credited back within 3 working days
  • Set-up guides for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Cline, Dify and other tools

Watch-outs

  • Not an official OpenAI, Anthropic or Google product, and the operator publishes no address or company number
  • Sign-up only accepts Gmail, Outlook, QQ, 163 and a few company email domains
  • Cheap Claude and OpenAI capacity runs through a "Claude Max pool", a Kiro group and a welfare group that can be cut off
  • The trial amount is unpublished, and promotional bonuses are deducted in full from any refund
  • The balance expires 365 days after the last top-up; card and PayPal refunds lose a 1–3% fee
  • No password reset or two-factor login, and support runs mainly through Chinese-language QQ and WeChat

Varies

Register via this FastAIToken affiliate link for an OpenAI-compatible third-party AI API gateway / aggregator (site title FastAI 模型). The platform markets unified auth, smart routing, failover and usage metering across many models, with prepaid account balance for API spend. FastAIToken’s own terms state it is not an official OpenAI, Anthropic/Claude or other upstream vendor product. There is no fixed cash signup bonus; the docs say new users can contact staff for trial credit, and top-up promotions vary. Unused balance can be refunded within 30 days under the published refund policy, but promotional bonuses are deducted in full and card or PayPal top-ups lose a 1–3% channel fee. Models are only provided where the model maker supports your region: Hong Kong is not on OpenAI's, Anthropic's or Google's Gemini API lists. Data may route via third parties; read the privacy terms and pricing before production use.

What FastAIToken is, and what it isn't

FastAIToken is a third-party API gateway: one key and one OpenAI-compatible endpoint that forward your requests to GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Qwen, GLM and other models, meter the tokens and bill them against a prepaid balance. The homepage claims more than 40 models, and the docs add image models and Seedance video models.

Its terms open with the line that matters: it is not an official product of OpenAI, Anthropic or any other model maker, and it has no authorisation, endorsement or partnership with them. The site names its operator only as International Ciyuan Inc., with no registered address, company number or governing-law clause, and support runs through QQ groups, WeChat and [email protected], mostly in Chinese.

Signing up, the trial credit and our code

Sign-up needs an email address on an allowed list: Gmail, Outlook, QQ, vip.qq.com, 163 and a handful of company domains. iCloud, Yahoo, Hotmail and work addresses are rejected. You also pass a Cloudflare check, verify the email and accept the terms in a pop-up. The public sign-up settings have password reset switched off and no two-factor or passkey login, so keep the password in a password manager.

New users can ask staff for trial credit after registering. FastAIToken doesn't publish the amount; staff set it when you ask in the support group. The refund policy says the free test credit exists so you can check a model's speed, quality and billing before paying, and that is the right way to use it.

Disclosure: 9XD5RQNTN3VU is BonusRoam's own affiliate code, and FastAIToken rewards us when you sign up through our link. It adds no separate bonus on your side; the trial credit is the same for every new user.

Getting started with FastAIToken in five steps: sign up through our link with a Gmail, Outlook, QQ or 163 address and verify the email; ask staff for trial credit, whose amount they set; create one API key per project with a spend cap; keep your OpenAI SDK and change only the base URL and key; top up a small amount and test, since unused paid balance is refundable for 30 days. The site has no password reset and no two-factor login.

Connecting your tools

Point any OpenAI SDK at the base URL https://www.fastaitoken.com/v1 with your FastAIToken key as the Bearer token, then change the model name to switch models. Tools that want the address without /v1 take https://www.fastaitoken.com. The docs carry set-up guides for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Cline, Cherry Studio, Dify, Open WebUI, LangChain and more.

Coverage is uneven. The API manual lists chat completions and the model list as the working endpoints and still marks embeddings, streaming, images, video and multimodal input as in development, even though separate guides cover image and Seedance video generation. The terms also say compatible means the request format, not identical behaviour: error codes, token counts, tool calls and streaming can differ from the official APIs. Test the exact endpoint you rely on with the trial credit.

How pricing works

Text is billed per token; images, video and what the pricing page calls special reverse-engineered models are billed per call, and you can force a key to per-token billing in its settings. The full price list sits behind the login. The public rule is that overseas models (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Grok) track the official list price, Chinese models (DeepSeek, Qwen, Doubao, Kimi, GLM) usually come in below it, and rare new models can cost more.

What you actually pay depends on the group your key uses. The docs promote a low-multiplier welfare group for OpenAI models, limited to five concurrent requests, and a Kiro group for Claude that lowers the cost of the "Claude Max pool". Those names describe capacity drawn from subscription plans and third-party tools rather than pay-as-you-go API keys, which sits awkwardly beside the "pure official relay" claim on the same page, and it is exactly the kind of capacity a model maker can switch off without notice.

The homepage sells plans by throughput: Developer with 5 concurrent requests and 40 requests a minute, Professional with 20 and 200, and Enterprise on contract. Plan prices are shown only in the console.

Top-ups, refunds and expiry

The balance is prepaid service credit, not a deposit: no interest, no transfers, usable only on FastAIToken. It lasts 365 days from your last top-up; any new top-up resets the whole balance to 365 days, and FastAIToken sends reminders 30 and 7 days before expiry.

Unused paid balance is refundable without a reason within 30 calendar days of the top-up, provided no invoice was issued for it. The refund is what you paid, minus what you used, minus any promotional bonus, minus the payment fee: nothing for Alipay or WeChat Pay, 1% for a company bank transfer, 1–3% for PayPal, Wise or a card, and the network fee for USDT. In FastAIToken's own example, RMB 500 paid with a RMB 50 bonus and RMB 120 used returns RMB 330, about £37. Money only goes back to the original payment method.

Apply by console ticket or by email to [email protected] with the subject 退款申请. FastAIToken confirms the amount within 1–2 working days; the money then takes 1–3 working days to Alipay or WeChat and 3–7 to a card or PayPal. Charges for 5xx errors, timeouts, empty replies or double billing are credited back within 3 working days if you report them within 15 days with the request ID. Don't start a chargeback first: FastAIToken suspends the account and freezes the balance while a dispute runs.

FastAIToken's own refund example: RMB 500 paid by Alipay (£56.07), a RMB 50 promotional bonus that is never refunded, RMB 120 used on API calls; refund by Alipay or WeChat Pay RMB 330 (£37.01), by card or PayPal RMB 315 to 325 (£35.33 to £36.45) after a 1–3% channel fee. Ask within 30 days of the top-up and before an invoice is issued; the balance expires 365 days after the last top-up.

Using it from the UK

FastAIToken only serves a model where its maker supports the user's country, and its region policy uses OpenAI's and Anthropic's own lists as the test. The UK is on both, and on Google's Gemini API list, so a UK resident can use the whole catalogue within the terms.

The same policy bans VPNs, proxies, false addresses and reselling access into unsupported regions, makes you responsible for where your own app's users are, and lets FastAIToken freeze a balance without refund for a breach. Its troubleshooting page still suggests a Hong Kong or US VPN when Cloudflare blocks your IP; ignore that advice, because the region policy treats VPN access as a breach.

Privacy and your data

The docs describe FastAIToken as a transparent proxy that keeps no conversation content and minimal logs. The terms are wider: they allow logging of request metadata, the model, usage, error messages, your IP, account identifiers and some request logs, and they say content or metadata may be passed to upstream model providers, cloud companies and other infrastructure suppliers.

The terms also tell you not to send personal data you aren't entitled to process, trade secrets, source code, keys or customer data. Take that literally: use it for prototypes, public data and personal projects, not client work, personal data covered by UK GDPR or anything under an NDA.

Reliability and what users run into

The terms promise no continuity. Upstream bans, rate limits, price changes, attacks and payment reviews can all interrupt the service, and FastAIToken's liability is capped at what you paid it in the 30 days before a dispute. If a model is withdrawn and your work depends on it, you can claim back the unused balance within 30 days of the withdrawal.

There is no app-store listing or sizeable review base to judge it by. FastAIToken's own troubleshooting page lists what users hit most: Cloudflare 403 blocks, a slow-loading site, 524 timeouts on Claude (the fix offered is a different domain), 429 errors when a key's quota runs out, and the five-request ceiling on the welfare group. The homepage also contradicts the docs on routing, advertising automatic failover from GPT to Claude or Gemini while the docs promise no routing and no model swapping, so check the model field in each response.

Who should use it, and who should skip it

Use it if you are a UK developer who wants to compare several models behind one OpenAI-style key on small, non-sensitive projects, can pay by Alipay or WeChat Pay so refunds cost nothing, and is comfortable with Chinese-language support. Take the trial credit, then make a top-up you'd be content to lose, and put a spend cap on every key.

Skip it for production systems, client or personal data, and anything where a sudden loss of Claude or GPT access would hurt; use the model makers' own APIs there. Skip it too if your email domain isn't on the allowed list or you need English-language support and a company you can hold to account.

FAQ

Is FastAIToken an official OpenAI or Anthropic service?
No. Its terms describe it as a third-party aggregator and reseller with no authorisation, endorsement or partnership from OpenAI, Anthropic or any other model maker.
Do I get free credit for signing up?
New users can ask staff for trial credit after registering. FastAIToken doesn't publish the amount; staff set it. Our code adds no separate bonus.
Which email addresses can I sign up with?
Gmail, Outlook, QQ, vip.qq.com, 163 and a handful of company domains. Other addresses, including iCloud, Yahoo and Hotmail, are rejected at sign-up.
What base URL do I use?
https://www.fastaitoken.com/v1, with your FastAIToken key as the Bearer token. Tools that want the address without /v1 take https://www.fastaitoken.com.
Can I get my money back?
Unused paid balance, within 30 days of the top-up and before any invoice is issued. Used credit, promotional bonuses and the 1–3% fee on card or PayPal payments are kept.
Does my balance expire?
Yes, 365 days after your last top-up. Each new top-up resets the whole balance to a full 365 days.
Can I use it from the UK?
Yes. The UK is on OpenAI's, Anthropic's and Google's supported lists, which is the test FastAIToken applies. Reaching it through a VPN from an unsupported country breaks the terms.
Is it safe for confidential data?
Treat it as a third party that may log metadata and pass content to upstream providers. Keep client data, personal data and secrets out of it.
