Gemma Cards Review: Two Free Packs, Coin Buyback and €10 Shipping
Gemma Cards gives every new account 1,000 coins, enough for two standard Pokémon or One Piece packs. What the coins are worth, the 75–90% coin buyback, shipping to the EU, UK and US, and why coins never become cash.

Best for
Adults in the EU, UK or US who want two free pack openings and would only pay to ship a card they really want.
Take the two free packs. Every new Gemma account gets 1,000 coins with no card needed, which opens two standard 500-coin Pokémon or One Piece packs. The catch is that coins never become money: a card sold back returns 75–90% of its value in coins, and coins only open more packs. The one way to get something real out is to ship the card, which costs €10 for the first three cards (£10 in the UK). Gemma says a standard pack holds about 80% of its price in card value on average, so the two free packs average about 80% of their €10 coin value in cards, less than the €10 shipping fee. Open them for fun, ship only a pull you'd happily pay €10 to own, and don't top up to chase.

What you get for free
Sign up through our link and 1,000 coins are in your account straight away, with no card needed. The link is our invite, so if you top up later, Gemma credits us a share of it in coins. At Gemma's rate of 100 coins to €1, that's €10 of pack value: two standard packs at 500 coins each, or one premium pack such as 30th Celebration at 1,000 coins. You must be 18 or over.
Coins are store credit. They have no cash value, can't be transferred and can't be exchanged for money; bought coins are refundable only if entirely unused within 14 days, and bonus coins never are.
How a Gemma pack works
Pick a Pokémon or One Piece expansion and open the pack on your phone. Every card you pull is yours as a claim on the physical card: when you ship it, Gemma takes it from its own stock or buys that exact card on the open market for you.
Before you pay, Gemma locks the pack's contents with a SHA-256 commitment shown on the sealed pack, then reveals the seed afterwards so you can check nothing changed. Pull rates per rarity tier are on each pack's purchase screen; Gemma bases them on the publishers' declared rates and recalibrates them as card prices move. A 1-to-5 lightning rating shows how big an expansion's top cards are without changing the average. Every 10th pack contains a card worth at least €5, and the terms cap the highest value any single pack can hold.
What two free packs are worth
Gemma says a standard 500-coin pack holds about 80% of its price in card value on average, and premium packs priced at 1,000 coins hold a smaller share. So your two free packs together average about 80% of their €10 coin value in cards. Any single pack can land well above or below that, and higher-rated expansions swing harder.
Card values are Gemma's own list prices. They track daily market data and include Gemma's sourcing and tracked-shipping margin, so they sit above a bare Cardmarket quote.
Selling back: coins, not cash
Any card can be sold back instantly. The terms set the rate by value: 90% for cards under €2, 80% from €2 to €10 and 75% for cards worth €10 or more, paid in coins. A €1.50 card returns 135 coins, a €6 card 480 coins and a €40 card 3,000 coins.
Those coins only open more packs. That's the honest limit of Gemma: nothing you pull or sell back turns into money, so selling back keeps you opening, and on average each pack returns less than it costs.
Shipping a card home
Gemma ships to every EU country, the United Kingdom and the United States. Shipping costs €10 for the first three cards whatever their value, then €2.50 per extra card, plus €5 for each card worth more than €100, which then travels insured and is sent again if the parcel is lost or stolen. UK addresses pay the same figures in pounds. US addresses get five cards for the €10 base and, once you've topped up more than €99.99 in total, one free shipment of up to three cards every 30 days. You pay the fee by card when you ask for shipping.
Parcels are tracked and usually arrive in 7–10 business days, sometimes as several parcels from different suppliers. Cards come in the condition Gemma sources them, and if a card can't be found Gemma credits its full value in coins instead. Do the sum first: one card worth €7 costs €10 to post, so ship it only if you want that card in your hands.
Who runs Gemma, and who it suits
Gemma is run by Gemma Media SRL in Prato, Italy, under Italian law, and EU consumers keep the protections of their own country. You must be 18 or over. Gemma only ships to the EU, the UK and the US, so anywhere else you can open packs but never receive a card, and with no cash-out that leaves nothing to take away.
Opened packs are never refundable, and section 13 of the terms lets Gemma reverse coins or card values created by a bug. Gemma itself calls the packs collectible entertainment, not an investment.
Our verdict: open the free packs, ship only what you'd buy
If you're 18 or over in the EU, UK or US, the two free packs cost nothing, and the pack verification is unusually open: you can check every result yourself.
Skip the top-up offers, such as the Welcome Pack of 3,500 coins for €24.99, unless you'd spend that on cards anyway. Outcomes are random, coins never come back as money, and topping up to chase a pull is the one move that turns a free sign-up into a loss.
