Kinesis Money Review: Is Half an Ounce of Silver Worth $17,500 of Trading?

Kinesis Money reviewed: who runs it, how its gold and silver tokens are backed, what trading and getting your money out cost, the yields, the 0.5 KAG referral bonus worked through, the withdrawal complaints and who should skip it.

Best for

People who already want to hold allocated gold or silver in an app, would trade well over $17,500 anyway, and accept a platform run from the Cayman Islands whose own risk warning says you could lose part or all of your investment.

Don't sign up for the bonus alone. Half an ounce of silver (0.5 KAG) was worth about $30.62 on 12 October 2026, while $17,500 of trading at 0.22% costs $38.50 in fees, so in our worked example you end up about $7.88 down before deposit and withdrawal fees, spreads and price moves. The platform's real draw is allocated metal with no storage fee and a small monthly yield. The catches are big ones: the operator is registered in the Cayman Islands, Kinesis's own risk warning says you could lose part or all of your investment, and recent Trustpilot reviews are full of withdrawals stuck for days or weeks. Only put in money you could afford to lose.

Pros

  • Each KAG is backed 1:1 by an ounce of allocated silver of at least 999 fineness, and legal title stays with the holder
  • No storage fee: Kinesis pays for vaulting out of its transaction fees
  • Metal audited twice a year by Inspectorate International (Bureau Veritas), most recently in April 2026
  • A flat 0.22% trading fee, on amounts down to 0.00001 oz
  • Metal stored in vaults in 13 cities, from London and Zurich to Singapore and Sydney, which Kinesis describes as fully insured
  • Holder's Yield paid monthly in metal, although the last 12 months gave silver just 0.05%

Watch-outs

  • In our worked example the bonus costs more than it pays: about $7.88 down on trading fees alone, before deposits, withdrawals and spreads
  • Run by a company registered in the Cayman Islands under Cayman law, with disputes settled by arbitration
  • Trustpilot rates it 2.5 from 738 reviews, and many recent ones describe withdrawals stuck for days or weeks
  • Sending KAG out costs 0.45%, and taking delivery of silver starts at 200 oz plus 0.45%, $100 and delivery
  • The Kinesis card launches in the United States first, so it may not reach your country for a while
  • Kinesis can change, suspend or end its yields and the referral programme at any time

What Kinesis is and who runs it

Kinesis is an app and web platform for buying, holding, sending and selling gold and silver as digital tokens, alongside a range of cryptoassets. It is run by Kinesis Cayman, an exempted company in the Cayman Islands registered as a Virtual Asset Service Provider with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (reference 1877923). Its terms name partner companies in Lithuania (supervised by that country's Financial Crime Investigation Service), Australia (registered with AUSTRAC) and Panama, and they are governed by Cayman law, with disputes going to arbitration under the London Court of International Arbitration's rules. The vault network comes from its strategic partner, Allocated Bullion Exchange (ABX), founded in 2011.

Kinesis isn't a bank, and its own risk warnings list custody, operational and counterparty risks, including delays in getting at your assets. How platforms like this are regulated, and what protection you get, depends on where you live, so check the rules in your country before you sign up. This offer isn't available to UK readers on BonusRoam.

KAG, KAU and where the metal is

One KAG is one ounce of silver of at least 999 fineness; one KAU is one gram of gold of 999.9 fineness. Kinesis holds the bullion as bailee: under its terms, legal and beneficial title stays with whoever holds the tokens, and each holder owns a share of the pooled bars in proportion to their KAG or KAU, rather than specific numbered bars. Kinesis says it never lends out customers' gold.

The metal sits in vaults in Dubai, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Vaduz, London, New York, Singapore, Sydney, Toronto, Zurich, Panama City, Batam and Brisbane, which Kinesis describes as fully insured. Inspectorate International, part of Bureau Veritas, audits the holdings against the tokens in circulation twice a year; the latest audit listed is from April 2026. There is no storage fee.

Don't mistake backing for stability. A Kinesis help article claims KAU and KAG have "none of the inherent volatility", but its own risk warning is clearer: the KAG price follows the silver price, which moves, and you could lose part or all of your investment. Go by the risk warning.

Fees: paying in, trading and getting out

You pay in by bank transfer in a supported currency or by sending crypto. Deposit fees, minimums and clearing times depend on the currency and the method, and Kinesis lists them on its fee page, so check the ones for your currency before you pay in: on a $17,500 bonus they decide how much is left.

Every buy or sell on the Kinesis Exchange costs 0.22%, whatever the asset or the amount, and sending KAG or KAU to another account costs 0.45%. On top of that you pay the spread, the gap between buying and selling prices, which Kinesis says isn't fixed: it comes from the live orders on the exchange at that moment. There's no account fee, monthly fee or storage fee.

Kinesis also advertises a 7.5% APY on its C1 stablecoins, its own currency-linked tokens, but calls it discretionary and variable, and its terms let it withdraw that reward without notice. Kinesis's own risk page warns that stablecoins can lose their link to the currency they track.

Going the other way, you can sell and withdraw to your bank, with the fee and minimum for your currency on the fee page. You can also send KAG to an outside wallet for 0.45% (minimum 0.03 KAG), or take delivery of the silver itself, which costs 0.45% plus $100 plus delivery and starts at 200 oz, about $12,250 of silver at 12 October prices. Crypto withdrawals carry their own fees; for coins such as Bitcoin and Ether the fee is set dynamically at the time, and one Google Play reviewer complained of paying over $21 to send about $300 of Bitcoin out.

How money moves through Kinesis and what each step costs: 1, pay in by bank transfer or crypto, with fees, minimums and clearing times that depend on the currency and are listed on Kinesis's fee page; 2, trade at 0.22% per trade, plus a spread that isn't fixed; 3, hold KAG or KAU with no storage fee and monthly yields Kinesis can change or stop. Ways out: sell and withdraw to your bank, with the fee and minimum for your currency; send KAG to a wallet for 0.45%, 0.03 KAG minimum; take delivery of silver for 0.45% plus $100 plus delivery, 200 oz minimum.

Yields: what holding the metal earns

Kinesis pays several monthly yields out of a pool funded by its transaction fees, paid in the first week of the following month. The one that matters to most people is the Holder's Yield: 15% of the fee pool, shared among everyone holding KAU or KAG in proportion to their holdings, worked out daily.

Over the past 12 months it came to 0.50% on gold and 0.05% on silver, and Kinesis says those historical figures are not an estimate or forecast. On the 0.5 KAG bonus, 0.05% is under two cents a year. Kinesis also pays a Velocity Yield to people who trade or spend; its pages don't say how much it would add on $17,500 of trading.

None of this is fixed. The yields go up and down with how much trading happens across Kinesis, and the terms let Kinesis amend, suspend or end any yield for any user at its own discretion.

The referral bonus: the conditions

Sign up through our link (referral code ), complete identity verification, then trade at least $17,500 (US dollars) in gold, silver or any crypto asset on the Kinesis Exchange. You don't need to deposit that much: the terms say a deposit of any size works, with a bigger one needing fewer trades, and give the example of trading $1,750 ten times. Once you've done it, you and the person who referred you each get 0.5 KAG, half an ounce of silver, in your Kinesis accounts; Kinesis's referral screen puts it as sharing an ounce of silver with the person you invite.

Kinesis publishes a list of eligible countries (updated 10 June 2026), so check yours is on it before you start. If only the new user lives in an eligible country, they still get their 0.5 KAG. The terms set no deadline for the trading and no timeframe for paying the reward, and Kinesis can change or end the programme at any time, telling users by email, on its website or in its Telegram group. The account must be for you alone and not passed to anyone else; accounts that get around its KYC rules are suspended. The terms are on Kinesis's help centre, updated 8 June 2026.

Disclosure: KM13819097 is BonusRoam's own referral code, so when you qualify we receive 0.5 KAG too. Kinesis also pays us a Referrer's Yield of 7.5% of the transaction fees your account pays, for as long as you use it; on $17,500 of trading that is about $2.89.

From sign-up to 0.5 KAG: 1, sign up through our link with referral code KM13819097; 2, verify your ID through Persona, usually minutes but up to 1 to 3 days; 3, pay in, with fees, minimums and clearing times that depend on your currency; 4, trade $17,500 in gold, silver or crypto on the Exchange, for example $1,750 ten times; 5, you and the referrer each receive 0.5 KAG, with no payout time stated. There is no deadline, Kinesis can change or end the programme at any time, your country must be on Kinesis's eligible list, and the account must be for you alone.

What the bonus is worth

Our worked example: you pay in enough to trade back and forth until you reach $17,500. At 12 October prices (£46.33 per KAG on CoinGecko, about $61.25 at the ECB's 9 October reference rate of $1 = £0.75641), the 0.5 KAG is worth about $30.62. The trading fees come to $38.50, which leaves you about $7.88 down. Deposit and withdrawal fees and spreads make it worse, and silver price moves can go either way.

Two things could make it worse still. Kinesis doesn't say whether both the buy and the sell in a round trip count towards the $17,500; if only one side counts, you pay fees on up to twice as much, $77, and end up about $46.38 down. And the reward on its own is about $30, which may be below the minimum withdrawal for your currency, so check the fee page: you may only be able to cash it out alongside other money, or send it to an outside wallet for 0.45%.

The sum only works in your favour if you would have traded that much on Kinesis anyway, in which case the half ounce is a rebate on fees you were paying regardless.

Worked example for $17,500 of trading at 0.22%, at 12 October 2026 prices: the 0.5 KAG reward is worth $30.62 at $61.25 per KAG; trading fees are $38.50; net, minus $7.88. If only one side of each round trip counts towards the $17,500, fees are $77 and the net is minus $46.38. Before deposit and withdrawal fees, which depend on your currency, spreads and price moves.

The Kinesis card and physical silver

Kinesis says its virtual card will be available first in the United States, with other countries following in later phases, so check its card availability page for yours.

You can take delivery of the metal behind your tokens, but only in bulk: at least 100 g of gold or 200 oz of silver, for 0.45% plus $100 plus a delivery fee that varies by country. Kinesis says delivery is subject to regional logistical constraints, and a recent Trustpilot reviewer says a gold redemption was left waiting while Kinesis sourced the metal.

Tax

Kinesis says you are responsible for any tax on holding, sending or using its tokens. Where selling or swapping tokens counts as a taxable disposal, trading back and forth to reach $17,500 creates a long list of them, so keep your own record of every trade and check how your country taxes the trades and the 0.5 KAG you receive.

What users complain about

On 12 October 2026 the Kinesis app was rated 4.9 from 26 ratings on the UK App Store (version 2.20.1, 18 September 2026) and 4.2 from 820 ratings on Google Play (updated 2 September 2026). Trustpilot tells a different story: 2.5, rated "Poor", from 738 reviews, 105 of them in the last 12 months. 63% are five-star and 18% one-star, Kinesis replies to 73% of negative reviews, and Trustpilot flags the company as possibly linked to high-risk investments.

The recurring complaint in the most recent reviews, from September and October 2026, is withdrawals, of crypto and of cash, left pending for days or weeks, some involving large sums, with support sending template replies. Others describe a physical redemption left waiting while Kinesis sourced the metal and a silver purchase that took weeks to reach the account; on Google Play, one reviewer complained about the network fee for sending Bitcoin out. If you do sign up, try a small withdrawal early, before you put in more.

Signing up and leaving

Identity checks run through Persona and usually take minutes, but Kinesis says they can take 1 to 3 days. Your first deposit then has to clear before you can trade, and the time depends on the currency and method, so allow a few days from sign-up to your first trade.

Kinesis's terms let either side end the agreement on 30 days' written notice, and say that once an account is closed you have five business days to withdraw what is left, so move your money and metal out first and then ask support ([email protected], or the 24/7 live chat) to close it. Check the withdrawal fee and minimum for your currency before you do.

Who should use it, and who should skip it

Consider it if you already want to hold gold or silver in allocated form, value having no storage fee, have read Kinesis's risk warnings and could afford to lose what you put in, and expect to trade more than $17,500 anyway, so the half ounce is a small extra.

Skip it if you're only here for the bonus, if you might need your money back quickly, if you want the protection of a bank or a regulated investment platform where you live, or if a delayed withdrawal would cause you real problems.

FAQ

Who regulates Kinesis Money?
The operator, Kinesis Cayman, is registered as a Virtual Asset Service Provider with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, and its terms name partner companies supervised in Lithuania and registered in Australia. The terms are governed by Cayman law, with disputes going to arbitration.
What happens to my silver if Kinesis fails?
Under its terms you keep legal title to your share of the bullion, which Kinesis holds as bailee in vaults it describes as insured and has audited twice a year. Kinesis's own risk warning still lists custody, operational and counterparty risks, including delays in getting at your assets.
How much do I have to trade to get the 0.5 KAG?
At least $17,500 (US dollars) in gold, silver or any crypto asset on the Kinesis Exchange, after you've signed up through our link and verified your identity. Trading $1,750 ten times counts.
Do I need to deposit $17,500?
No. You can reuse a smaller deposit across several trades; deposit minimums depend on your currency. Every trade costs 0.22% plus the spread, so the fees build up with each one.
Is the referral bonus worth it?
Not on its own. In our worked example, 0.5 KAG is worth about $30.62 while trading fees come to $38.50, leaving you about $7.88 down before deposit and withdrawal fees and spreads. It only adds up if you'd trade that much anyway.
Can I cash out the 0.5 KAG?
You can sell it for 0.22% and withdraw it with your other money, subject to the withdrawal fee and minimum for your currency, or send KAG to an outside wallet for 0.45% (minimum 0.03 KAG). Taking delivery of physical silver starts at 200 oz.
Do I pay tax on trading at Kinesis?
Possibly. Kinesis says any tax on holding, sending or using its tokens is your responsibility. Trading back and forth to reach $17,500 can mean many taxable disposals, so keep a record of each trade and check the rules where you live.
How long does it take to get started?
Identity checks through Persona usually take minutes but can take 1 to 3 days, and your first deposit has to clear before you can trade, so allow a few days.
