TeamoRouter Review UK: Is a 74% Cheaper Claude Bill Worth Routing Your Code Through Hong Kong?
TeamoRouter reviewed for UK developers: who runs it, where its discounts come from, live prices against Anthropic's own, a worked cost check, top-ups and refunds, what its privacy policy says it keeps, the terms you accept, the invite code, billing surprises and who should stick with the official APIs.

Best for
UK developers running Claude Code, Codex or their own scripts on personal, open-source or otherwise non-confidential work, who want a much lower token bill and are comfortable with a Hong Kong company recording their prompts.
TeamoRouter is a prepaid LLM router run by Teamo HK Limited, and on 24 October 2026 it sold Claude Opus 4.8 at $1.33 per million input tokens and $6.65 per million output, against Anthropic's $5 and $25. That turns a $15 heavy day into $3.99. The price of that saving: its privacy policy says it records request and response content on servers in Hong Kong, and it doesn't tell you which upstream channel served each request. Anthropic and OpenAI both sell to the UK directly, so you have a clean alternative. Use TeamoRouter with small top-ups for work you'd be happy to see stored; keep client code, secrets and personal data on the official APIs.
Pros
- Claude Opus 4.8 at $1.33 / $6.65 per million tokens against a $5 / $25 list price on 24 October 2026
- One key covers Anthropic, OpenAI and Gemini formats; Claude Code and Codex work by changing the base URL
- A named Hong Kong company with published terms and a privacy policy
- Purchased credit never expires, and unused purchased credit can be refunded on request
- Billing shows each request's model, tokens, discount and charge
Watch-outs
- Records your prompts and replies and stores them in Hong Kong
- Doesn't tell you which upstream channel served a request
- Discounts reprice every hour, and each request bills at the rate in force at that moment
- Wallet in US dollars only, so a UK card may add a foreign-exchange fee
- No general uptime commitment, and liability is capped at what you paid in the last 12 months
- No published bonus for invited users

What TeamoRouter is
TeamoRouter is a routing, metering and billing layer for large language models. You top up a US-dollar wallet, create a key starting sk-teamo-, and point your tools at https://api.teamorouter.cn. It speaks Anthropic's Messages format, OpenAI's Chat Completions and Responses formats and Gemini's native format, so Claude, GPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, GLM and others sit behind one key and one bill.
The service is run by Teamo HK Limited from Kowloon, Hong Kong, under terms updated on 20 October 2026. Its terms say plainly that it is not the provider of the underlying models; it forwards your requests to official provider APIs or authorised distribution channels and bills you for the tokens used. You must be 18 or over.
Where the discount comes from
TeamoRouter credits three things: providers competing for each request under its quality checks, enterprise-scale volume deals, and investor-funded price subsidies it calls a limited-time boost. Its site names cloud platforms such as AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI and Azure among the routes, and says it filters out grey suppliers that run on pooled subscription accounts.
What you can't see is which channel answered a given request. TeamoRouter promises you get exactly the model you asked for, never swapped or downgraded, but that is its promise rather than something you can check from outside. Treat the discount as subsidised and liable to change.
Prices, and a cost check against Anthropic's own
On 24 October 2026 TeamoRouter listed, per million tokens: Claude Opus 4.8 at $1.33 input and $6.65 output (list $5 and $25), Claude Sonnet 5 at $0.50 and $2.52 (list $3 and $15), GPT-5.6 Sol at $0.53 and $3.18 (list $5 and $30) and Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview at $0.29 and $1.73 (list $2 and $12). Discounts reprice hourly with upstream costs.
Take a heavy coding day: 2 million input tokens and 200,000 output on Claude Opus 4.8. At Anthropic's price that is $10 plus $5, or $15; at TeamoRouter's it is $2.66 plus $1.33, or $3.99. If 1.5 million of the input tokens are cache hits, the day costs $8.25 at Anthropic and about $2.19 at TeamoRouter, before cache writes. A $50 top-up covers roughly twelve such days instead of three.
Topping up, refunds and bonus credit
Top-ups come in $10, $20, $50 and $200 packs, or any amount from $5, through a Stripe checkout. The wallet is in US dollars even if the checkout shows pounds, so your card may add a foreign-exchange fee, and the name on the receipt can be an affiliated company rather than Teamo HK Limited. There's no subscription.
Purchased credit never expires. Credit you've already used up is non-refundable, but you can ask for unused purchased credit back by emailing the address in the terms; refunds go to the original payment method, minus non-refundable processing fees. Promotional credit, such as first-purchase bonuses and referral rewards, has no cash value, can't be refunded and can expire.
Setting it up
For Claude Code, set ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL to https://api.teamorouter.cn and ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN to your key; TeamoRouter's guide also sets default model names for Opus, Sonnet and Haiku. For OpenAI SDKs and Codex, use https://api.teamorouter.cn/v1 as the base URL. GET /v1/models lists what your key can call.
Create a separate key per tool so you can revoke one without breaking the rest, set a spending limit in your client, and send a short test before anything long. A few models ending in -free, such as deepseek-flash-free, cost nothing but are capped at 200 requests a day each and share a daily platform allowance.
Privacy: what it keeps, and where
Read this part before sending any code. TeamoRouter's privacy policy says its request-trace system records the content of your requests and responses alongside usage metadata such as the model, token counts, your API key identifier and your IP address. It keeps these to troubleshoot, analyse routing quality and handle support, for as long as it considers necessary, and deletes them earlier if you ask. It doesn't use them to train models or sell them.
Storage is in Hong Kong on cloud infrastructure including Tencent Cloud, with content-delivery edge nodes in places including mainland China and the United States, and the website runs Microsoft, Google and Baidu analytics. Your prompts also go to whichever upstream channel serves them, under that provider's terms. If you work with clients' personal data, sending it to a Hong Kong processor without a data processing agreement is your UK GDPR problem, not TeamoRouter's.
The terms you accept, and how reliable it is
You agree to follow the usage policies of the upstream providers, including Anthropic's and OpenAI's, not to resell the service, and to take responsibility for checking outputs, which TeamoRouter doesn't review. It can throttle, suspend or close accounts for breaches, and promotional credit is forfeited if it does so for fraud or abuse.
The marketing quotes a 99.98% routing SLA, but the terms provide the service "as is" with no general uptime commitment; SLAs exist only in separate enterprise agreements. Liability is capped at what you paid in the 12 months before a problem, so keep balances modest and keep an official key configured as a fallback.
The invite code, and what we get
Our link opens TeamoRouter with the invite code a3a4fa8a95 attached. TeamoRouter doesn't publish a fixed reward for invited users, and your prices are the same either way; any promotional credit you're given shows in your wallet history and follows the bonus-credit rules above.
Disclosure: a3a4fa8a95 is BonusRoam's own invite code. TeamoRouter's Refer & earn programme pays the inviter in US dollars at a rate it doesn't publish on its open pages, so we earn a referral reward from your account.
Billing surprises, and what users report
TeamoRouter's own billing FAQ answers the same few questions: why one chat message produced several billing records (agent tools make hidden helper calls), why a smaller model such as GPT-5.4 mini appears when you picked GPT-5.5 (clients use small models for side tasks), and why cache writes cost more than cache reads. Fast mode bills at twice the list price, and a cache-write anomaly rebate refunds up to 80% of a lost-cache charge for Claude Code and Codex.
There's no mobile app and no app-store rating; TeamoRouter offers a desktop client and a Discord community. Independent user feedback was thin on 24 October 2026, so judge it by a small test of your own: compare the billing record of a short job with what you expected before you top up again.
Who should use it, and who should skip it
Use it for personal projects, open-source work and experiments where a three-quarters cut in token costs matters more than data residency, with top-ups you could lose without fuss and nothing confidential in the prompts.
Skip it for client or employer code, anything with credentials or personal data, regulated work, or if you need a contractual uptime commitment. In the UK the official Anthropic and OpenAI APIs are open to you at published prices, with their own data terms.
FAQ
- Is TeamoRouter an official Anthropic or OpenAI service?
- No. It's a third-party router run by Teamo HK Limited that forwards your requests to official APIs or authorised distribution channels and bills you through its own prepaid wallet.
- Is it really 90% off?
- On some models. On 24 October 2026 GPT-5.6 Sol was 90% off list, Claude Sonnet 5 84% and Claude Opus 4.8 74%. Rates reprice hourly, and each request bills at the rate in force when it runs.
- Does the invite code give me a bonus?
- TeamoRouter doesn't publish one for invited users, and prices are the same with or without it. The code records BonusRoam as your inviter, so we earn a referral reward.
- Do credits expire, and can I get a refund?
- Purchased credit never expires, and unused purchased credit can be refunded on request, minus processing fees. Used credit and promotional credit can't be refunded.
- What base URL do I use?
- https://api.teamorouter.cn for Claude Code and the Anthropic SDK, and https://api.teamorouter.cn/v1 for OpenAI SDKs and Codex, with a key starting sk-teamo-.
- Does TeamoRouter keep my code?
- Its privacy policy says it records request and response content, stored in Hong Kong, for troubleshooting and support, and deletes it on request. It doesn't train on it or sell it.
- Should I use it for client work in the UK?
- No. Use the official Anthropic or OpenAI API, both open to UK customers, where you get their data terms and can sign the agreements a client expects.
